Born and raised in Arkansas, Robert Bean spent the early years of his life loving the warm and humid summer nights with their sodium orange glow. He also found joy within the pulpy pages of comic books. Both things played an important part in his development as a visual artist; the sodium lights gave him a taste of deep shadows and high contrast and the comic books developed his love of visual narrative. With this foundation, Robert spent several years studying fine art, from the University of Tennesse to Hendrix College and finally to the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, where he received his BA in Studio Art with an emphasis in drawing.
Since 1998 the artist has been slinging his brand of visual stories on canvas and paper, bringing his perceptions of life around him to light. He has exhibited both regionally and across the nation. His work can be found in private collections nationally, including venues in and around central Arkansas, like the Historic Arkansas Museum and Hendrix College.
Beginning in 2013, Robert partnered with the Arkansas Capital Corporation Group to build an exhibition program that exhibits Arkansas artists and helps to bridge the gap between the business community and the art community. After a successful first year at the ACCG, Robert and RB Fine Art have expanded to include a program at the newly renovated Burgundy Hotel in Little Rock, arranging exhibitions throughout their three story interior atrium space and their award winning restaurant, Table 28. RB Fine Art’s newest project is to offer custom tours of not only the exhibition programs in place, but with working artist studios and galleries in the central Arkansas area.
